I'm Panda, an autistic 25 year old from Germany.
I like cosplay and art, really enjoy reading and playing video games, especially RPGs and Fantasy.
Dragon Age and Homestuck will forever be my hyperfixations.
A quick list of things imafandom/imafandddoom has done. You can see the original post here (tw for graphic image/triggering content) here is a quick summary of what has went on.
As of 6/16/2023, imafandom (the original blog) has been took down. But the other account is still up.
1. Backdated most of the posts that were originally posted June 12 to look like they were posted 2 years ago. Only recent posts are true to their date of being posted.
2. Did not state anywhere on their account that they backdated posts until I called them out on it because that’s extremely suspicious behavior and a known tactic by scammers. They then kept giving me excuses on why they did this claiming they ‘didn’t know’ this was a red flag. They only announced backdating a whole day after I made my psa. The blog had existed for 2 days.
3. Sending asks to accounts who have DMs off asking them to send them a message because they really want to converse privately despite sending someone else an ask asking them to share their pinned post publicly with no mention of wanting a private message.
4. Once a message is sent, imafandom will then reply with a graphic/triggering image of a wounded lady and leave a guilt trippy message claiming they need a loan of $1,200-$2,000 right then and there with a promise to pay it back.
5. Sending messages to those who share the post with the same triggering/graphic image and the same guilt trippy message of asking for a loan.
6. Accusing someone of ruining their post even though the accused person did not make the psa warning about the account. They likely are harassing the person for no reason other than block evading. I did not share their aid post, so how did I ruin it if I have never linked to it?
7. (This is speculation.) imafandom may be a possible alt account of dreamerdollface after they sent the person images only used by dreamerdollface. When asked about these images, they said they sent them by accident and had been given them by someone else. I don’t know why someone would save images from a stranger and then resend them to someone else and then quickly backtrack and say it was an accident and the next photos sent was really them. All the behavior given by imafandom is extremely similar to the other. However, this is extreme speculation and something to consider.
Since greatshiptersz deleted most of these posts I’m showing them here as archived proof they existed once. These posts were proof the blog was stalking my account and they deleted them in an attempt to hide them. However, as a blog who archives scam posts and anything relevant to them, I also collect posts of scammers who decide to waste time by acting like this.
The information the scammer complains about was all public information from a public Facebook post that they reposted here but removed the legitimate link for their own and failed to clarify anything.
They block people without clarifying anything themselves. They blocked me and neechees for calling them out.
Once I had called them out, they started sending asks to blogs who received the link to my post that shows the backdated posts + linked to a warning that showed further proof.
Backdated posts are posts someone has changed the date on to make them look older then they really are. If you have timestamps on, you’ll see the real dates.
Have you received an ask in your inbox from an account that previously wasn’t following you, pleading for a signal boost on their vet-related post? I got one today, but something felt fishy. Or perhaps “phishy” is more accurate?
Here’s the ask:
Now a couple odd things right off the bat. This is a blog I’ve never seen or interacted with, who wasn’t following me prior to sending the ask, so I immediately wondered how they pulled my name to ask for help. And while the world in general is a shitshow, so I can sort of see why a person would default to saying it “isn’t the best time to ask for help”, they say it with such confidence without knowing me at all.
Odder still, from their posts– which at least do look extremely normal and human-like, down to the mishapocalypse profile picture– we don’t share any interests aside from… well. Cats.
The other odd thing is them specifically requesting I reply privately, through DM or a private answer. I wouldn’t think much of it except they’re already asking me to publicly share something on my blog; if I’m going to answer the ask, why can’t I do so publicly?
I scroll through their blog some more. Their pinned post is, indeed, asking for help with their cat:
Weirdly, though, an earlier version of this post uses a completely different name for the cat??
This is bizarre to me and my red flags are pinging louder. Maybe it’s innocuous, though, I mean, it could just be a nickname or something? Why would you change it though?
Also, the post’s ratio is weird– 101 reblogs to 44 likes. I suppose not too shocking if they’re doing this use-an-ask-to-get-a-boost tactic widely, but the ratio is pretty extreme. I check the notes. Every single reblog with tags has some variation on ‘boost’ or ‘signal boost’; there are no comments. No one has mentioned knowing this person, no one has vouched for the legitimacy of the post… but two mention that they were asked to boost the post.
*EDIT: Per a polite anon, I will clarify that signal boost/boost tags themselves aren’t a red flag; what bothered me was that the post’s ONLY interaction history came from boosts from seeming strangers. An active fandom blog, active enough to think posting a plea for financial help might get traction, SHOULD have at least one or two mutuals or friends who are willing to push the post and vouch for its legitimacy. Because the only engagement was from people who had clearly been approached via ask, like me, I got the heebie jeebies.
Okay, I’m doubtful enough that I’m not comfortable boosting this post myself. But let me check one more thing.
I search google for the exact phrasing of the help-requested post.
Ah.
There’s well over a dozen blogs pulled up with this exact phrasing. Most of them use the name “Koppi” instead of either “Ashel” or “Biscuit”, but a few use “Ashel”. The oldest result, from 2016, uses “Ashel”; more commonly, these results are from 2022 or earlier this year and again, most say “Koppi”. Also interesting: basically none of these posts exist anymore. Google can identify the exact wording even beyond what I included in my search query using whatever demonic powers allow it to reference removed content, but they’ve clearly been deleted.
Additionally, which I clarify for those like me who attribute Google’s quirks to demonic powers rather than an actual understanding of how it works: if the dates didn’t make it clear, these aren’t the blogs in the notes of falesyorac’s post. I cross-referenced the names. It’s not pulling up those reblogs, so presumably the majority of these results at one time came from someone who drafted and posted the wording to their blog, not from reblogs.
Maybe it was once a real post, maybe it’s always been a scam, but evidently the content of the post has been stolen and recirculated at this point. Along the way I found this as well, an anon warning someone who must have reblogged a version of the scam post:
So this is at least partly confirmed as a scam from another source.
Please be wary, do your due diligence before you put your money anywhere, and block & report falseyorac. I’m not sure the nature of the falseyorac blog originally; it may have been a real account that got hijacked, it may be a very convincing fake, it may be a real person’s blog who is trying to to leverage their innocuous appearance to pull quick money with a beggar scheme. Regardless, it is evident there is not a genuine Ashel/Biscuit needing help today and that whoever holds the falseyorac account right now is trying to pull a scam.
One more thing– one of those reblog’s tags I showed earlier.
I also have a tag for reblogs of cats. (It’s “cats”.) I suspect this is where this particular iteration of the scam is pulling its targets from– after all, people who reblog cats enough to tag them must care about them, right?
Finally, I am tagging the people who reblogged falseyorac’s post with tags (there’s too many for me to do everyone who reblogged it at all) below the readmore– if I messed up and tagged the wrong person and/or you want your name removed, please just contact me and ask. I want to make sure you can see this warning, but I’m happy to untag you if it bothers you for any reason.
I just love getting scam asks that want to pander towards minorities by trying to imitate generic tumblr descriptions but they just end up looking kinda off instead. like wtf even is this💀
I usually don’t post about scams in this way but the url sent me💀
Hello there! Just wondering if its okay for you to check the post i pinned and reblog/boost it? Im in desperate need of help im really sorry for coming across your inbox (pls answer this privately) only if its ok 😞 thank you and stay safe
hi if you dont mind would you please help sharing my pinned post to help a nonbinary autistic artist sell art/recieve help. Im behind on rent bc work hasnt been busy this month and there was a snowstorm causing me no work this weekend. So i am genuinely needing a lend of hand(s) thank you 💜 take care
A very simple quick way to tell if the blog sending you an ask to share their pinned pet post is a scam with timestamps enabled:
They followed you randomly and sent the ask seconds later
The posts before pinned are reblogged minutes apart and are fit to a certain trending theme
They told you to answer PRIVATELY despite their post being public meaning they could be trying to hide their asks
The pinned post is not very old and at best is hours/days/weeks old
Things you should do:
Search the ask in tumblr search to see if it was sent to other users
Search the name on their address to see if it is known to belong to someone who isn’t being truthful and steals fundraisers
Check to see if the fundraiser is copied from Facebook/Gofundme by going to those sites and either searching the pet name or part of the story. Most likely you will locate the source unless it was posted to a private group in which you won’t be able to locate it
The antis vs pro ship bullshit is going too far with NOW SOMEONE TRIED TO SCAM PEOPLE just to own proship or whatever and prove a point
Listen… You are taking this god damn bullshit too damn far! Why are you literally going to commit fraud over shipping and discourse?! Forget about pros vs antis whatever, you are planning to commit fraud and taking random people’s money wtf
Also that person have Tumblr account as well and she seemed to be friends with a serial harasser: aster-disasters who trolling and harassing on pro ao3 post or whatever i remember someone sending me DM about it but i don’t remember details because it happened some time ago… Holy fuck…
Imagine you plan to do fake commission or whatever, taking people’s money + lying about your situation because you are so deep in online BS… Oh my fuckin’ god some gen z are fucked beyond help…
Don’t commit fraud over shipcourse!
Look if anyone with those account names babykn1fe or slime whatever asking for donation/offering commission project. Don’t trust! 🚨
That person is on TikTok as well with the same name as Tumblr
Edit: Correcting pronouns + Wtf that twitter account saying “Good luck, have fun!!” To someone who’s going to scam people online out of their money
It’s like saying to Bernie Madoff:
“Oh! Bernie! You wanted to steal 70 billion dollars from people? Good luck! Have fun old boy!”
Sorry, this is about a post from 2020, but in answering an ask about homophobia in Utena you mentioned, “another is a man who is gearing himself up for a hetero marraige because he feels its the proper thing someone in his position should do, until he meets a teenaged boy and it’s like “…..oh fuck…””… are you talking about Mikage? Are you saying the search for eternity he’s researching is a metaphor for hetero marriage, à la Akio’s “the castle is where a prince and princess will live together forever?” (not disagreeing just wanting to make sure I understand correctly, id never thought of it that way before)
I’m gonna say this again since folks keep tagging popular blogs in that tumblr blackout post with not a second thought about how disabled folks will be affected by it
First off- starting an indefinite blackout from the start of disability pride month IS ableism. Intentional or not. I do not care if it’s a “statement about accessibility.” You cannot talk like you care about disabled people by silencing our voices. Majority of disabled folks I’ve seen have been explaining over and over again why this is a monumentally shit idea which is just going to hurt us.
Second- We are not Reddit. So you can’t copy paste something that worked there and hope that’ll work here. Do we not remember the blackouts in the past that did not fucking work? Also- I say this as someone who is disabled and cares deeply about accessibility- there is an extreme difference in the severity of the issues that are going on with Reddit and what’s going on here. Poorly review tumblr, stop buying crabs, stop fucking blazing posts. Dude. We are also not in a union or employed by tumblr. WE CAN’T BE SCABS.
Thirdly- I’m presuming that most people who’ve been reblogging the og post have other social media sites they can go to. That they can easily go to like, Instagram, that they have friends irl, and they have the ability to leave the house. A lot of disabled people on here don’t have that. They’ve been bullied off social media platforms like Instagram or Twitter or Tiktok for being disabled, they don’t have a solid friendship group in real life and some of them can’t actually leave the house without help. I don’t want disabled people to be completely alone during disability pride month. They deserve to at least deserve to keep their support network on the funny hellsite.
And if I sound angry it’s because I am. I’m angry about disabled people being lowest priority yet again. I’m angry at our own month being used against us because of “accessibility”. I’m angry thinking about disabled people being isolated during a time that should be celebratory. I’m not being chronically online or overreacting or “trying to be an activist.” I’m just a disabled person who would absolutely be negatively impacted by this blackout that has apparently been timed with our accessibility needs in mind but no caring for how disabled people will be effected.
I don’t know if the plans have been updated. Honestly I struggled to even read the og post because of the font and the inaccessible use of language. But I do want ableds to know that they cannot say they’re participating in this blackout to benefit disabled people.
Feel free to tag anyone you want in this post btw I want ableds to understand
taking reddits private or marking them NSFW, particularly big ones, impacts reddits ad revenue. The reddit blackout wasn’t effective because it was a blackout, but because it cost the company money.
People need to actually figure out how to cost the company money, not just copy the aesthetics of whatever big protest happened recently that people cheered for. Particularly not when copying aesthetics means silencing people.
Not to mention the fact that even if this tactic COULD work on this site (which it won’t) and if it wasn’t ableist for all of the above reasons (it is)
Absolutely nowhere near enough traction was gained. There is no organization behind this. I bet most of this site hasn’t even heard people talking about this. There’s no thought put into it (if there was then we’d be discussing something that would work) and no structure. It will fail on that basis alone. Participating in this is less effective than liking a tweet
I do not own any photos that I reblog. However I claim photos that are watermarked or stated with my url. If you saw your photo just tell me right away, and I'll give you a proper credit.
